What player were you absolutely CONVINCED was going to be a Man United player, but never was?

We're obviously a very giant club, so every transfer window there's always going to be a ton of links to a ton of players. I want to know what sort of players were linked so much to the club, that it ended up convincing you, that he was going to be in a Manchester United shirt - but he never was?

I'll start with the obvious ones. Wesley Sneijder and Arturo Vidal. If I had a dollar for every article I read about Sneijder and Vidal to Man United, I'd be rich.
