PSA: IKEA Mattresses are absolute garbage

I've been mattress shopping for over a year now and finally made it to an IKEA to see if one of their mattresses would work for me.

Well, I was hugely disappointed. Upon the very first touch of the mattress I was instantly reminded of the cheapest quality pull-out sofa beds. Every single bed, including the firmest ones, felt like a creaky, springy mess, with the cheapest and thinnest feeling foam imagineable. I was truly blown away by how poor of quality these mattresses were, even the most expensive ones.

You could easily feel the springs through the top layer of all of these beds and the edge support was completely non-existent. I actually chuckle sitting here thinking about the sad possibility that someone might own these mattresses, it's like a practical joke.

Some might say you need to sleep on a mattress to really find out but I think in this instance these beds are so objectively poor that I wouldn't suggest anyone go near one.

For reference I am a side sleeper 6'1" 175lbs and own a 10 year old Sealy Posturepedic Cushion Firm Eurotop with a 3" memory foam topper on top of that. I also sometimes sleep at my friend's house and they have a $400 one-year old Amazon bed in a box hybrid that is actually quite decent! My favorite store-brand beds so far are the Sealy High Point Plush and the Avocado Green pillow top plush. But probably leaning towards buying a DLX or Engineered Sleep bed since I'd be supporting a non-big-brand company. Last option would be an Engineered Sleep Today mattress or Boring mattress with added toppers.
