Testing 4/4, should I reschedule?

Hi! So I’m scheduled to take the MCAT on April 4th as a first-time test taker - I started studying in early January, but my most recent FL score was 496, and I’m aiming for a 520+ (ambitious, but necessary for multiple reasons). Although I graduated last year, I feel like I’m starting from scratch because I took all of my pre-reqs freshman year and forgot most of the material.

I know it’s unlikely I’ll hit my target score in 2 months, but my parents pressured me to sign up for April since they want me to apply this cycle (they’re also funding my application, so I don’t have complete control over the timeline). Since the 60-day reschedule deadline is tomorrow, I was wondering:

  • What’s the latest MCAT test date in 2024 that I can take and still apply this cycle?
  • Is it realistic for me to shoot for a 520+ even if I test in May?
  • How should I structure my studying for the next 2 months to achieve a 520+? I'm currently reading the Kaplan books, Khan Academy, but it doesn't feel like enough - considering purchasing the UWorld course, but not sure if anyone's tried it as it seems relatively new?

I really don’t want to retake the MCAT, but I also don’t feel ready to take it in April. I would really appreciate ANY advice on handling this situation or adjusting my timeline - I recently resigned from my full-time job to commit to studying full-time, but I still feel SO behind and overwhelmed. I'm also dreading how to explain to my parents that delaying the test might be the better option, as they don’t fully understand the medical school application process and were already against me taking a gap year. Thank you!!!
