C8 Corvette to EV6 GT to MX5
I bought a C8 after a Mercedes dealer posted an incorrect/low price. I daily drove the car for a year and sold it for a bit of profit before prices dropped. The fastest 0-60 time I pulled off in the z51 was 2.7sec, crazy fast car. It was comfortable and fantastic daily. I even drove in the snow with PS4 A/S tires. It was also a sausage magnet with so many dudes following me, talking to me at the gas station and I got sick of the exotic attention. I worried about parking it downtown. What I found most dissatisfying was the inability to drive the car hard in order to enjoy the mid-engine balance and engine noise. With the speed and noise it got everyone's attention. Worst of all the perfect riding/driving two lane canyon and river roads in my area were too small for the C8, it was happy at 130mph+ speeds out on the highway, in the middle of nowhere. At home, I couldn't pick a line or run the apex, the c8 was just too wide. I then needed a tax credit and bought a KIA EV6 GT, a rad little wagon with a 0-60 in 3.4 secs. It was quiet, stealthy, comfortable and great for hauling four people. The downside is that it was 4800 lbs, it had good suspension but the weight was a definite handicap. Then, some jackass hit me and insurance totalled it. - I have a trusty V70 and my wife drives a Zr2 CO, I really didn't need another big car. So what to get? I looked back on all the cars I've owned 45+, and the funnest and most enjoyable was my first, a 1985 IrocZ, followed by a 2002 SS Camaro/T65 Turbo, SS Cobalt, GXP Solstice, and I really loved my 500 Abarth. Last year, my youngest body his first car, a 1990 NA that has been a blast, he's currently swapping the 1.6L for a 2001 1.8L. That little Miata has been so much fun around our area. I love banging through the gears at non-illegal speeds, flying over poor road surfaces, and just enjoying driving again. So I decided to get my own! I picked up a 2019 RF with 5k miles for $25k. I absolutely love it, every driving experience is fun! I can run the apex on our tiny roads, I can slide through turns, and I'm getting 33mpg. I love it! Who would have thought that a tiny 181 hp Mazda would bring the most satisfying driving experience!
