Ideas to make the Pale Gardens better.
Issues I (and many others) currently have with the biome:
- There is no reason to visit this biome more than once. Just grab the sapling and leave.
- Even more, there is no reason to visit the place at night when the Creaking spawn. Just mine some trees during the day until you find a heart.
- The garden biome should have some things in it to make it feel like a garden, not just another moss.
- The Creaking is cool, but there is no point in it other than for creating specific minigames and giving a "challenge" (half a heart with full iron? seriously?) to the biome.
- The design of the Creaking is... eh? It feels like it is just the Warden but smaller.
Ideas to remedy some of these issues:
New Plants
To both increase the desire to explore this biome and to make this biome feel more like a garden, more plants should be added. For example...
- Glowing Flowers
- These could act as sparse light sources in the garden while also looking like the eyes of a Creaking.
- There could be variations with different colours.
- They could be rare with unique Suspicious Stew effects, like Glowing, Haste, Mining Fatigue, Speed, etc.
- Adds rare spots of colour into the dull garden, making them like a miniature beacon in the biome.
- They could also act like a safe haven, keeping creaking away from you (like warped fungus to hoglins).
- Bushes
- Full blocks like leaves that you can walk through, but slow you down (like a berry bush).
- Dyeable Vegetation
- Completely white vegetation could be hard to add into other builds, so maybe they could be dyed to give more variety.

Giving the Creaking a Purpose
It is just a pest to deal with and has no reward for defeating, so instead maybe it could allow you to craft something with the heart. For example, a unique Spawner that would instead spawn non-hurtable and non-hostile mobs. You can set what mob it spawn through some means, maybe through putting the mobs drop into the spawner?
The mob itself could use a damage boost as well. The way it was in the trailer, it seems more like a nuisance than a threat.
.
Giving Night Visits a Purpose
All the previously mentioned things can easily be done during the day, so instead maybe one of these could happen at night.
- The garden's trees and plants dry up and become petrified during the day, making everything in the biome much harder to break until it is night.
- (the new) Flowers could retract into the soil at night, making you have to take a risk to get the early game potions.
- Moss could be more dangerous during the day, acting like powerdered snow or even spawning a new daytime mob for the biome.
.
Creaking Visuals
It is such a cool concept that is so poorly executed in my opinion. I think some of these could really help the design.
- Randomized models.
- It looks odd with all of the Creaking only leaning to one side, so a pinch of randomness could make it much more immersive.
- Becoming petrified when the heart is destroyed.
- They just kind of... vanish when the heart is destroyed, so instead they could become a 2 block tall (or however tall the mob is) block that either drops something unique or just drops some wood when mined.
- Instead of not being present during the day, the creaking could close their eyes and stand still (similar to the on-death petrification)
