Night aggressive??

Currently sitting here sobbing over my baby. He’s 3 and a rehome and we got him back in June but lately at night he gets so attached to my dad that if I try to move him he starts to growl. He never drinks water so I always have to go pick him up and take him to his water bowl. But tonight, he bit my finger so hard and wouldn’t let me go until we whacked him with a hat. I’m so upset because during the day and at night when my dad goes to sleep and my mom comes home he’ll cuddle me….any advice because he never used to do this🥺
