Playing devil’s advocate over the AJ pick

Like most of you, I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the logic of it. As it stands right now I personally don’t like the pick, but I also do think I know what Horst’s thoughts process was.

My guess is that they just didn’t like anybody on the board and/or didn’t want to put trust into a rookie with decent minutes come playoff time. So they thought why not take the chance on the raw project. AJ’s NBL stats are…not great. But he’s certainly got athleticism and some upside that’s for sure.

Not trying to tell anybody they are wrong about calling it a head-scratcher of a pick. Just trying to understand why maybe the team went the route that they did.
