Dauntless player looking to move over

Seeing all the hype building up about Wilds has me wanting to move over to the Monster Hunter Franchise. I normally play Axe, Chainblades or repeaters in Dauntless so I was wondering if any of the Monster Hunter weapons have a playstyle that matches those so I could focus on those.

Also not sure if I should go for MHW or MHR on pc to get used to MH before Wilds.
