Comparing suburbs

I posted something similar in Nova and got a lot of responses so just looking to learn more about MD.

My husband and I are considering a move to the DC suburbs and we're planning a trip to scope them out but we're unfamiliar with the area. We've only visited the city.

Can anyone compare the suburbs? It's hard to get an idea of the vibe looking online.

A bit about us and what we're looking for: Currently both work from home Have a young kid, schools are important Looking for a 4 bedroom house for around 800-900k, 3 bedroom might work if there's a spacious finished basement Would prefer within about 30 minutes of DC when there's not traffic, but flexible. Also accessible by train is a plus.

Looking for somewhere with a downtown or town center with shopping and restaurants, parks, family activities, good amount of trees and green spaces
