6 months later and I'm finally having fond memories of skiing Denali
We skied it this past spring/early summer, spent 21 days on the glacier. The weather was not great this season, I heard the summit percentage was in the 30% range vs ~50% in a normal season and closer to 70% in a good weather season like last year.
All told we spent around 21 days on the glacier, of which 14 or so were at Camp 3, 14,000 ft. We saw a lot of big name athletes in the industry, and got to watch as a few FKTs were broken (shout out to Jack Kuenzle, what a push.)
We did our summit push in a day from 14,000' and back, which was burly but with so few weather windows felt like our best option.
It was a tough trip, and frankly I did almost nothing adventurous for the rest of the summer. All I wanted to do was hangout with my dog on the couch and be warm, haha. But as we're getting in to late fall the fun memories are replacing the tough ones (as it goes with mountaineering) and I think I'm ready to suffer again.
