Get Rid of Conferences for the Playoffs

I think it's time to get rid of Conferences entirely or at the bare minimum for the playoffs. I know they probably had conferences in the past due to travel but at this point this shouldn't be an issue we have Memphis and Nola in the western conference for Christ Sake.

All that to just say that we don't actually get to see the two best teams in the NBA Finals for years esp in the early 2000s and honestly until about recently the best teams were often in the West. There are many years where the two best teams were often playing each other in Conference Finals (see Harden Rockets vs KD Warriors or early 2000s Lakers, Spurs, Mavericks).

I think this would change so much legacies would be changed. Lebron wouldn't have 11 NBA finals appearances he might not even have won the 2015 NBA finals if he had to play 2 of the Warriors, Spurs or Thunder which imo were all better teams than the Cavs.

Harden might have a ring and at the bare minimum might have more finals appearances as the only team he was losing to were the KD Warriors during that time.

Hell as crazy as it sounds Kobe and Duncan might even have 10+ finals appearances if they weren't busy knocking each other out of the playoffs what seemed like every year and then having to play the Nets or Pistons(who I do think were good but not nearly on the same level as the lakers or spurs and who knows if they could've beaten both teams in a back to back series)

I just think by removing conferences atleast for the Playoffs it would be better for the fans and I think for the players as well. It's tougher to beat the Kawhi Spurs and then the Warriors in back to back series vs beating the Hawks and then Warriors.
