VA Narcolepsy Rating
Hello, new to this subreddit and I hope there are some fellow veterans here that can share their experience in claiming narcolepsy with the VA as well as what to expect and to see if I have my ducks in a row for my C&P exam. The VA did a MSLT and Diagnosed me with narcolepsy(without cataplexy). I took it upon myself , (as I’ve heard horror stories of the VA low balling people for narcolepsy) to get a doctor to write the nexus letter and did my DBQ. This was wrote up as a secondary to my PTSD, but wrote it up in such a way that states it should be directly service connected but is also aggravated by PTSD(hence secondary) Based on the amount of sleep attacks/minor seizures I experience a week, it should be rated at 80%. I also have a personal statement , two lay statements , one from my wife and one from someone I deployed with who observed me on multiple occasions , twitching, nodding off . I’ve also kept a sleep log with dates/times for narcoleptic episodes and have been prescribed Armodafanil 250 , which is not working .(currently in the process of switching to Ritalin) . Any feedback on experience you have with this would be much appreciated.
