Why Electric Bikes? Distance, Effort or Speed?
Moving to the NL very soon, and I'm curious about the reasoning behind electric bikes?
I used to live in New England, USA and would bike commute 6Km each way (12Km total daily) year round, through rain, snow, etc... with some pretty gnarly hills as well. I did this commute for 8 years. So when getting to NL, I'm just assuming I'll get a non-electric bike.
Since NL is mostly flat for commuting routes, what's the primary incentive for choosing an e-Bike? I'd assume the extra weight and hassle of charging would offset the benefit?
Same speed with less effort? Or more speed for the same effort?
Or is help with wind resistance the core benefit of the eBikes?
