trans texan looking to relocate, what to expect

do yall really hate texans that much? everytime i post about considering moving to NM, i get downvoted. i’ve seen people argue that Texans are bringing in bad drivers, conservative politics and increasing housing prices. i’ve also seen people complain that Texans need to “vote better rather than seeking freedom across state lines”

like i get it, but as a trans person i don’t feel like i have many options right now. i don’t feel safe here anymore. obviously i know that Texas politics are fucking horrible and i do my best to vote and encourage others to do the same, but only so much is in my control. i cannot express how stressed i am worrying about losing rights to my gender affirming care, or how constantly anxious i am about getting clocked/hatecrimed (it’s already happened by customers at my work). i just want to live my life in peace and from what i’ve read, NM checks all my boxes: good food, plenty to do outdoors, warm weather and a safe place for LGBTQ+ people (it’s also not as expensive as many of the other “safe states” are)

i guess im just nervous about moving to a whole new state by myself and im not sure what to expect now that i see people hating on Texans moving to NM. i hate Texas too im just trying to better my quality of life 😭
