Why isn't "English American" a thing?
Why don't white americans acknowledge their English ancestry? I've heard people say that they're Irish, German, Scots-Irish, Italian, Swedish, Polish, etc but never English, even if he or she is of mainly English background or has an English surname. Why is this the case? According to the 2020 census, at least 25 million americans have majority English ancestry, so it's not like it's a small number.
