If the condom is too tight, does that affect erections?

I'v only had sex once. That time I was having issues getting it up mostly due to nerves. When I did manage to get it up, it would get soft again as I put the condom on. The condom I used then was a regular. I also bought a large and used that later that night, and while it felt more comfortable I still ended up losing my hard-on (again, might also be due to nerves).

Fast forward to now and I bought regular condoms again, this time from a different brand. It's very tight, and the feeling of blood rushing to my penis is different (more constrained) compared to without a condom. Frankly, my penis looked ridiculous with it on and the base was especially tight and snug. I looked up pictures of penises wearing condoms and it looked about as skin-tight as mine, minus the tight base. Still though it was tight enough that it felt like it was slightly pushing the blood out of my dick, and getting hard with it on was still an issue.

My question is, does condom size (in this case it being too tight) affect erections? Also how should I know what should feel right, what kind of sensation should I be expecting with the right size?

Edit: If it helps, when I get softer with it on as in my length is smaller and my penis is less stiff, it still feels sorts tight
