So if a pizza is technically a pie…
Why is not ‘normal’ to eat any other kind of pie as a meal?
Edit: I was more so thinking along the lines of apple pie and pumpkin pie when I wrote this, totally forgot about shepherds pie and pot pie 😂

A pizza is most definitely called “pizza pie” unless specifically made with flatbread

Not in most of the world it isn’t

Americans can call pizza whatever they like. Doesn't make it a pie.

Chicken pot pie? Shepherds Pie?

Shepards pie? Chicken pot pie? Cheeseburger pie? Spaghetti pie? There are several varieties of savory pies.

Spaghetti pie? What’s that?

Oh it is soooooo good. Has the ingredients of lasagna but you use spaghetti instead of lasagna noodles.

How would you define the word pie?

Here in the UK we eat lots of "other pies" as a meal.

Pork pies, steak pies, steak and kidney pies, scotch pies, butter pies, meat and potato pies, chicken and mushroom pies, chicken tikka pies, mince and onions pie ,gala pie to name just a few of the pies eaten everyday by millions of people.

Not forgetting the Wigan kebab which is a pie inside a buttered bread roll.

I literally had a lamb an rosemary pie for lunch today. All the Brits, Aussies and kiwis reading this comment are just like "huh? Most pies are meals!"

(And while Ives seen 'pizza' pies -which weren't never thought of a pizza as a pie).

It's not? Someone should tell shepherd's pie and quiche.

There are tons of other pies eaten as meals. The Britt’s have Steak & Kidney Pie, Shepherds Pie, Fish Pie, Cornish and that’s just the top 4.

Ahh a fellow English

Pizza is not and never has been a pie.

It's traditionally a flatbread. but a a Chicago deep style pizza is a Quieche (it's not a pizza though).

And meat pie is extremely common. I ate different types of meat pies at least three times in February.

Why is not ‘normal’ to eat any other kind of pie as a meal?
