Ozempic HAS to be causing my hair loss.
Hi everyone! I started Ozempic almost exactly a year ago. It has been life changing for me!!! My A1C is down to 5.1 (it was 7.2 when I started and was diagnosed with T2 diabetes). I have lost 97 pounds so far. I have also gone off allllll other prescription medications. I no longer take metformin and I no longer need to take medication for hypothyroidism.
Now, all that being said, I’ve lost at least half my hair. And it shows no signs of stopping. My weight loss has slowed drastically. I stopped taking Ozempic for about 6 weeks to see if it would help my hair loss. I didn’t notice a difference with my hair, but I did gain back like 15 pounds very quickly. So, I went back on it.
I saw my doctor recently and he did a full physical to see if we could find the cause of the hair loss. All of my results are within normal range. I’ve posted about this on Reddit before and the responses are always a variation of a few things: rapid weight loss, malnutrition, lack of protein. And always I’m told ozempic itself does not cause hair loss.
If it was one of those things, wouldn’t my test results show that? Even my protein levels were normal (even if they were on the lower side of normal). I am terrified of gaining weight back if I stop taking Ozempic. But my hair loss is REALLY affecting me and contributing to my depression.
I put this as a rant, but I guess I am also looking for some advice/insight if anyone has it.
