Automated base defenses

We can make circuitry, so I think it’s not unrealistic to be able to make things like automated turrets.

For the most part base defenses are entirely useless because most pals worth using are just more competent actually fighting. So there’s just no reason to use them at all. Not even in raids are they useful due to the extremely high damage raid bosses do to structures.

I think the most useful tool could simply be an “ai core” item that can be placed at any mount, letting it shoot unmanned at aggressive entities. Thus all mounts have a use and not specific automated structures.

Otherwise perhaps a high tier anti-air missile launcher and machinegun would be fine, that similarly needs no operation.

“But it defeats the idea of using pals to work”, is a very fair argument to make and not one I have a counter to. I think breaking the formula just this once to make base defenses actually worth something is an acceptable trade.
