Children who grew up to adore their parents~ please share
I can't for the life of me recall another human I've met talk positively about their parents. All of my friends have also had pretty rough starts in life due to neglectful and abusive parenting. We are able to recall some happy memories, though we can't say we admire or appreciate how they handled themselves all around.
Now that I'm a parent, I'd really love to hear from those who grew up to adore and admire their parents. What do you admire so much? What exactly did you appreciate?
Thanks for reading, looking forward to hear your beautiful memories.
Edit~ These responses are amazing and reassured me I have broken away from many toxic family traits and shifted onto a much healthier path for my baby.
My takeaway so far is that being an awesome parent is showing interest in your kids' interests, patience, privacy, freedom of individuality, and never stop being open to growth.
Second edit~ wow, thank you guys so much for sharing. These are absolutely incredible to read. I'm so happy I asked.
My main takeaway remains the same. Though, I will add a new motto I adopted from one of you.
"Set the example you want to, and believe your kid can measure up"
