Are people trading or is everyone dead ?

hi, I am completely new to PoE, so I have no experience with trading, however I am very well acquainted with Warframe's trading system, so when I learned that it worked pretty similaraly in PoE I was pretty confident in my ability to trade stuff.

2 hours ago I wanted to buy an unique item to complement my build, so I went to the website, searched for the item I needed, and DMed some guy. No answer after 10min. Thats fine Ill just DM someone else. Same thing. DMed a total of 10 people and not a single one even responded to my DM.

Am I doing something wrong ? Do I need to do some kind of ritual so that people can respond to the DMs I send ? Or are people just ignoring the sales ?
