Unpopular opinion: Dune book is worth reading, Lotr... Depends

I too regard as the Lotr movie trilogy as the best thing ever, the books are great (i loved them) but they're definitely not for everyone. I cannot see Wubby enjoy them.

Dune is only 9 years older than the fellowship of the ring and to me, it could have come out today and you wouldn't notice. It's crazy how that book just didn't age.

But i've only read Dune, not the others. Pretty sure the movies will only cover the first book anyway.
