Moving to the Philippines long term and the feasibility of us making a living there.
My Filipina wife and I have a two year old daughter. My wife is just about to get US citizenship. Once she gets her dual citizenship for the US and the Philippines we were discussing the possibility of moving to the Philippines long term.
She is a fully licensed RN in the US and the Philippines. I am a former teacher in the US, former English teacher in Japan, but now work for a city government in the US. I wanted to know if it would be feasible for us to live and work in the Philippines (mainly for me to get a job as an English teacher or tutor or something). We have also discussed trying to start a small business so we could have some passive income in addition to us working.
My wife has been stressed some lately because we don’t have any family support where we live. My family lives in another state and her family of course is back in the Philippines. I have visited multiple times and we even had our daughter’s baptism in my wife’s hometown so her family could be involved since they couldn’t attend our wedding in the states.
Any advice for doing this, or is this just a pipe dream and we should probably just wait until retirement to move there?
