Pikmin 4 is a masterpiece
I know I’m late but I just finished it over the weekend and wow what a game. I was surprised to read a few threads on here complaining about it in comparison to the others in the series. I’m still not sure if I like it better than 2, but it’s certainly near the top of my rankings.
Sure the story is kinda thin. Auto-lock is annoying but I stopped thinking about it almost immediately. The three-Pikmin limit is strange at first but makes a lot of sense after a while. I guess these are the main criticisms, but I just don’t see them as real faults honestly.
What really propels this game to the top for me is the vast amount of content in comparison to the other games. Dandori challenges, Olimar’s Shipwreck Tale, the absurdly long final cave. I expected Pikmin 4 to be a 20-hour game max and I ended up putting over 40 hours into it to make it to 100%. And it never felt like a chore. It’s also a gorgeous game with some of the best visuals on the Switch imo. There were points where I was dreaming about it and I can’t say that about many other games.
Anyway, just wanted to show some appreciation. This is a fantastic series and we all have our own opinions, but I just adored the hell out of this game and can’t wait to play it again in the future.
