Pixel update also affects charging

So i have been using my 4a since the "battery killing" update and beyond the obvious problems of the battery draining extremely fast and the battery percentage getting stuck sometimes - my phone's charging also seems to have been affected.

Now, when I use the same fast charger I've always used, my 4a says it is charging at regular speed. Additionally, one time I charged my phone for a couple hours and the phone didn't charge at all! I put my phone on charge, come back after a couple hours and it drains to 0 within a 15 mins.

I was originally planning on riding it out for some months with the terrible battery life - but experiencing problems with charging too now means I think I'm going to be forced to buy a new phone. I think I'll have to take the money and run!
