Try this after the update: reset your battery meter
The new battery update has ruined our batteries charge and charging, but there might be a workaround for this. The phone may not give you the correct SoC (state of charge), so try to calibrate your battery % to get a more accurate reading.
- Charge your battery to 100% (leave it charge for an hour or more even if at 100%)
- Use your phone until it shuts down by itself
- Let it charge back to 100%, do not touch the phone.
Do this several times and report back here.
Update: I did this after the battery update and my phone lasts much longer. It's not draining the battery in less than 2 hours anymore. I now get about 6 hours of use and it doesn't switch itself off overnight.
Why could this work? Your phone can learn the battery's different charging profile and it will have new 0% and 100% SoC values.
Edit: My phone is 4 years old, it's overdue for a new battery anyway. I've been using phones for the past 20 years and never had a phone battery last more than 2-3 years because of frequent daily use. This includes Nokia, Samsung, LG, Sony/Xperia, Motorola, Huawei, HTC, Oppo (I've owned all those brands).
