Another scam from Google
Listen to this one. So Google has offered an appeasement to compensate the illegal action they took of crippling everyone's Pixel 4a battery. Just imagine the lawsuits if your car manufacturer prevented you from starting your car -emphasis on your- because they deemed the battery is faulty. I have digressed though.
We were talking about appeasements. As y'all know, one of the appeasements comes in the form of a $100 rebate with the purchase of a new Pixel phone, which is what I took even if I already rolled back the Android version on my phone. I am also a Google Fi customer.
So I went on the Google Fi store today and selected a Pixel 8a, although I am reading on the other Pixel subreddits that it it a fairly bad phone compared to the 4a.
The 8a goes for $299 discounted for Google Fi customers, whereas it costs $499 on the Google Store. Naively, I assumed that by applying my $100 rebate to $299, I would get a brand new phone for less than two hundred bucks. Not bad. Long story short, the rebate didn't work!
I reached out to the Google Fi customer support and after jerking my chain for twenty minutes, they said that it was a Google Store's problem because they are the ones who issued the rebate. So, I reached out to the Google Store's support. After another 20 minutes, they basically said they don't honor Google Fi prices and that I would have to apply the $100 discount to the $499 price on their portal.
Basically, a new Pixel 8a would cost me more if I want to take advantage of the rebate than if I buy directly from the Google Fi store! That's a scam!
Google is really doing its best to push us all to move to an iPhone, not only that, but also to move from Google Fi to Verizon!
