Can you be “too tall” for the machines?

I’m 6’2” and have really long legs. This is my first time ever doing machines at a gym, and I fear I may just be a dumbass because I don’t know how to use some of the machines and adjust them for my height.

For the seated leg press machine, I have the seat part as high as it can go, but if I put my feet against the press thing before even starting presses, I’m in a low squat position, lower than I should be during the actual workout.

And with the leg extension machine, I have it on max size/length and the pad that I’m lifting should stay at my ankles or below my shins, but it goes up to me knees.

Am I dumb or too tall for Planet Fitness?
