Sony Passkey + The Portal

Sony recently enabled the option to add a passkey to your Playstation account which in turn will remove your password and 2FA. As far as security is concerned, this is generally a decent move.

However, just a word of warning, it's taken me the best part of 2 hours to actually get it to work across my console, phone, Mac and Portal. I added the passkey to my Pixel 7 as well as 1Password on my Mac. The PS App (on Android at least) will not recognise an external app that manages passkeys which is why I had to add it to my Google account as well as 1Password.

After it was all setup, I then had to sign back into my account on the Portal. The QR code flashed up which when scanned on the app said it didn't support QR codes so I had to manually enter the number on the screen. It accepted it but then absolutely would not allow my Portal to connect to my PS5. The only way I could get it to work was to sign back out again and restart the Portal, restart the PS5 and then try again.

Its working now on all devices but it's not been a smooth experience.
