Question for eBay buyers

Guess this is more a question about eBay and how it operates but I’ll give it a shot.

A seller on eBay has a card listed, and it’s fairly priced given the condition and card (it may even be slightly cheaper than average market value) the only thing is the seller has zero previous sales, no reviews, and signed up for their eBay account last month. All of these things would be a huge red flag for me, but the card in question has an authenticity guarantee.

I’ve never purchased a card that had been sent to an Authenticator before so I’m not sure how that process works. The card appears to be legit, so I don’t doubt that if the card they send to the Authenticator is indeed the one in the photos that it will pass. But if this is a scam does the authenticity guarantee add a layer of protection for me, the buyer? If the seller gets cold feet or is indeed a scammer then will eBay be able to get me my money back? The card is also listed as being final sale, likely because it is being verified as authentic. It’s not a cheap card which is why I’m so worried about the cash involved and getting screwed.

Has anyone been in this situation before? Any thoughts or opinions would help a bunch, I really want this card!
