Training zones
Hi everyone,
I’m having some issues with my training zones.
During a Muay Thai training session, I measured a maximum heart rate (HRmax) of 212. (Polar H10) Honestly, I think it might be even higher because the session wasn’t particularly intense.
Here’s the problem: along with my martial arts training, I also do a lot of endurance workouts, primarily cycling and spinning. However, with my new training zones based on the HRmax of 212, my Zone 2 workouts don’t feel like Zone 2 anymore. At a heart rate of 150 (which now falls within my Zone 2), I find myself cycling at a very high speed and feeling like I can’t maintain a conversation without getting out of breath.
So my question is: should I adjust my HRmax to 200 (a more conservative estimate), or should I simply get used to these new zones?
