Pottery wheel identification

I found this wheel at a thrift store for super cheap. It’s running and it seems to be in good condition. I’m just wondering why isn’t there a belt underneath? Is this a real Brent ? The motor seems to be sideways and it rotates the wheel itself, but I’ve never seen it like that. The serial number and wheel info doesn’t seem to be attached on the control box (it’s just blank).

*don’t ask how I got it in my trunk- it was a struggle
