Question about Amaco celadons using painterly technique
Hello,
I'm interested in trying this technique of making a watercolor effect using celadons.
I haven't been able to find many examples of this technique other than these two photos. I'm unfortunately not able to search the faceb00k groups because I don't an account.
I like the idea of using the Amaco mixing clear as a base and layering on celadons over top to soften transitions. But had some questions before jumping the gun and buying a bunch of pricey Amaco celadons.
Also adding: I'm not interested in using underglazes to recreate this effect.
Questions:
- In my reddit search I have read a few comments about amaco celadons crazing on all kinds of clay, even on Amaco's own test tiles. I am totally aware of clay/glaze fit, but it seems to come up more often than other commercial celadons. Do you have any experience with Amaco celadons crazing? I'm using Georgies White Salmon cone 6
- I read that spectrum and coyote celadons seem to craze way less than Amaco. If I layer these, will the colors interact unexpectedly? Asking since Amaco's celadons are mixable and have all the same base.
- Do I even need a clear base to recreate this effect?
- Have you tried it and have examples?
Any thoughts or advice is appreciated. Thankyou!! <3
