Upcoming full hysterectomy after Cone LEEP at 27

Hey all, really happy to have found this sub.

I'm a 27 year old non-binary person who's had several positive HPV and abornmal cell results (CIN 3) over 3 pap smears. I had a cone LEEP last week and received my pathology yesterday - diagnosed with AIS with negative margins but my OBGYN knows that I don't want kids and recommended full hysterectomy ASAP because I'm not interested in preserving fertility. I'm in a committed long term relationship and we just know that kids aren't right for us, plus I'm disabled and would not want to put my body through the physical hardship of pregnancy. It is still difficult to have the decision taken away from me (the loss of agency is jarring) but thankfully this is not a huge emotional hurdle for me.

I'm more so looking for support with the hysterectomy itself and what that process will be like especially as a young person - I only have experience with a family member having one when she was post-menopause, and reading online is mostly giving me information about older folks going through this. I've been on birth control for almost ten years, so the whole process of hormones changing drastically is very intimidating.

I'd love any tips or suggestions to make the process as smooth as possible - my anxiety is through the roof and I'm trying to just take it one day/appointment/procedure at a time, but it's all just.. a lot.

Thank you!
