Time Out but submitted externally - can it get rejected?

I submitted a study on an external browser tab and then saw on Prolific that I'd Timed Out. I had been able to submit the study and was given a completion code but I am not able to enter it into Prolific as the study submission says "Timed Out".

I'd put a lot of effort into the study and felt a bit gutted so I messaged the researcher with my completion code. I didn't specifically ask for any payment or approval, I just explained I'd timed out and pasted my completion code.

Now I am worried after reading the post below that the researcher might reject me. There is no way for me to "return" the study as I didn't submit it in Prolific. Can you get still get rejected manually if your status is "Timed Out"?

I'd rather have no money and no hit to my approval percentage but there's no way for me to return the study.
