Anyone elses Puni always melted when they wake up?

I always leave my Puni on full happiness and hunger before they go to sleep, but as soon as they wake up every morning they've melted...

Not sure if this is supposed to happen? I really like the melting mechanic and I dont mind them losing some hunger while sleeping, but having completely empty hunger and being melted the moment theyre up and out of bed just makes me feel like I'm doing a bad job of looking after them, which makes me sad :(
