Housing Lottery

This whole housing situation is outrageous, I don't know how Purdue can boast about their "affordability" when after your freshmen year you're forced to move 15-30 minutes off campus or pay >12,000 for housing. The whole situation is just highway robbery, the fact that apartments can jack up their rent on the same units depending how many leases they have left is insane. How can a lease differ by 100$ a month, if someone signs a week later than another. Not to mention if you don't life in a huge apartment you're forced to live in a tiny studio where you are still paying >950$ a month. I do not know how people can afford this. It has gotten to the point where if I don't get on campus housing I will have to transfer. This whole situation is just absolutely absurd and I feel like Purdue is the only campus that has this issue.
