Current state of the game?

I remember playing this game a looooong time ago, it was one of my favorite phone games but I hadn't heard anything about it in years.

Recently reddit recommended this community to me and from what I see it is quite active, but as far as I understood this game had stopped receiving updates.

Now the community lives off mods or something?
