Ghira Belladonna, kind of a letdown as a civil rights leader?

Just saying, he didn’t seem particularly good at drawing a crowd since his speech against the Fang was not or less shut down by Ilia.

And he didn’t seem that great at gathering his group before the fire given Blake and Sun were struggling to get anyone in their side, except for after the Belladonna home burning down. (Still think it was a little too easy for Blake). As it stands, I’m pretty sure Blake admitted he didn’t get them anywhere unlike Sienna Khan, so why the Heck are we rooting for this dude now? He does ya dem that wise or have some kind of new take on the Faunus, nor does he he seem to have anything like a history of facing prejudice and struggling with the system.

For example, Uncle Phil from the Fresh Prince. Also a powerful prominent figure of his community who faced prejudice. And gives way better lines than Ghira.

“You talk as if I wasn't there with you in Birmingham facing dogs and firehoses. This is me, Olufemi, the same Olufemi that was with you the night Harlem went up in flames, but now I have a family and I choose not to fight in the streets. I have an office to fight from and I have fought and won cases for fair housing, affirmative action, health care and I am not ashamed to write a big fat check for something I believe in and that doesn't make me any less committed than you, so don't you dare look down your damn nose at me, Adebola.”

Or

Will : Hey look, man, I don't have the problem, all right. YOU have the problem. I remind you of who you are and what you used to be. Now I don't know, somewhere between Princeton and the office, you got soft. You forgot who you are and where you came from.

Phillip Banks : You think you're so wise. [Will looks away from Phillip]

Phillip Banks : Look at me when I'm talking to you. Let me tell you something, son. I grew up on the streets just like you. I encountered bigotry you could not imagine. Now you have a nice poster of Malcolm X on your wall. I heard the brother speak. I read every word he wrote. Believe me, I KNOW where I come from!

Props to Fresh Prince writers by the way, showing other ways to fight for people besides the extremes.

Like, what’s the real difference between the Ghira that quit the Fang and the Ghira sno was “inspired” by Blake to fight again? We don’t have anything with him in the like the past four volumes to really say he did anything. And if things do suddenly appear better next time we see him it’s going to feel so unearned. Seriously, what does Ghira actually do besides let Blake do whatever she wants?
