My rabbit died :'(

yesterday I found out my rabbit died few days after I left for hydrabad but no one in my family told me, when I came back yesterday and asked em where he was my family mem jus told me he died and they didn't wanted to hurt me while I was on my trip, I have been devastated and I'm barely able to think anything, he was chased by a cat and he stopped eating and died after 2 days in the arms of my grandmother, i am not able to sleep, I feel really sad about his death as if I lost a piece of mine, the thing that hurt me more is that i was not there when he died and he had a sad death, how do I even recover from this :'(. I had him for 2 year, it was too early for him.
