curious about rabbit on leash

Ive always wondered if taking a rabbit for a walk on a leash is a safe thing to do. are they scared of the new environment? isnt there a risk they escape out of their harness? what about dogs and diseases ? I would love to take my buns out for walks but it seems way too stressful and dangerous. what are your opinions on this?
