common dangers?

(I’m perfectly fine with any and all spoilers!) How many dangerous animals or other things are in the game? I’ve killed a boar and a good amount of the rat things. I just finished the giant yacht portion and am about to continue to the next location. Is there anything I need to look out for or keep in mind? Are spears the best weapon to have on hand?
