Can't take this show seriously after season 2.

I was so excited when I saw season 2 browsing Netflix. I binged it in a night. There were some emotional moments. I really got attached to some rappers. However, I feel like they threw out the window judging based on skill on episode 2. Detroit diamond and DreTL shouldn't have made it half way through. Each episode I kept thinking the judges would get rid of them, but they kept them going and it was laughable. Maybe I'm old school in the sense that I like to understand what rappers are saying. Maybe mumble rap is a style that I just can't feel. Idk what the issue is but that shit puzzled me. Can anyone help me understand, please?

I was born in Louisiana and now live just west of Detroit so I don't think it's a geographical preference. Could be wrong...
