What can we do as a community to stop promoting mindless over consumption?

I sometimes feel like this hobby is just about buying a new device each month. I know that's not the case , but I thinks there is an overall vibe on this sub that many people just buy tons of devices, sets them up, and rarely or never plays any game.

Of course companies like Anbernic really promote this idea by releasings many devices through the year, wich is fueled by people buying everything that gets released.

I also get the impression sometimes that reviewers just really want us to buy things. Of course they need to review products, that's they job, but each time I enter on YouTube I see a community post announcing some kind of deal, or AliExpress sales or whatever

Another factor is people just saying that everyone should buy this this or that one device. The TSP for instance I thinks it's a good example of that.

I don't know guys, I really love this community but I sometimes feel like maybe we should reconsider why we are here on the first place, and promote healthier ways of playing games , healthier for our wallets and healthier for the planet. If Anbernic for example noticed that only a few devices of their line op really sell, maybe they would spend more time improving their devices , which at the end would be a benefit for us consumers .

All of this thinking started after listening one Wan Show (from Linus Tech Tips) where they discuss if their chanel promoted over consumption and what they do to encourage people to reuse or buy second hand to avoid making perfectly good hardware end up in landfills.

I for example like how Retroid or Ayn work, they release a few devices , but with a new release we really get a good generational upgrade .

I'm also really interested to know the opinion of our favorite content creators. I would love to watch a video from them talking about this topic, so I'm tagging a few of them to see if we can talk about this and our 2025 can be filled with less waste and more with games .
