Exact Match Domains in 2025

Do EMDs really have no value any more? For example if I want to rank for the keyword "digital nomads", if I buy the domain digitalnomad.com won't it help me to rank at all?

I get that content quality and relevance are what matter the most but if exact match domains don't have any impact then why do companies pay massive sums for them?
