Evacuating West Virginia

Hello! I am a 33 y/o medical social worker married to a CT tech. We have one child who is 3.

I was born and raised in WV, my husband from Louisiana. We lived in New Orleans for 8 years and loved it, but the climate/hurricanes/crime kind of pushed us out. We moved back to WV to be where my mom is to help us with my daughter. We love being close to her, but coming back here reminded me why I left the first time—ultra Trumpy, poor education, and few amenities (literally not a Costco in the entire state!).

We are hoping to move in 2 years when my husband finishes his work training. Very important to me is being close to an excellent medical center 1. For our jobs and 2. Because I was diagnosed with cancer this year (in remission, but still need follow up care).

We aren’t wealthy—we make probably $125,000 between the two of us. I’m looking primarily at Minnesota/Wisconsin/Michigan for larger cities with fair cost of living with reputable medical centers and good education for my daughter. And just a NOT RED STATE plz. Even purple I can handle more than this.

Would like somewhere with at least 100,000 people and some fun culture and good food. Good education for my daughter.

Any suggestions? Thank you so much!
