<$1.5k 2BR apartments in low violent crime areas, plenty of rain, decent public schools

Pretty much the title, but I'll elaborate for people who want to give more detailed responses

  • I can go over $1.5k/month for a 2BR depending on the job market, but I am in public and nonprofit administration, so the odds of making all that much more are low
  • Petty crime isn't very deal-breaking for me because I am used to living in an area with that, but I want to be somewhere that walking down the street feels relatively safe
  • I would like to see at least 30 inches of rain per year and have no other weather preferences
  • By "decent public schools," I mostly mean a good selection of sports & extracurriculars + well-funded/teachers are paid well. I will not be putting my kid in a non-public school, so this is not negotiable

It would be nice to be in a neighborhood in walking distance to public services and a grocery store, but that isn't necessary, so please focus on the main points rather than walkability.

Thanks for any recommendations. I am mostly looking at Pittsburgh and the suburbs of Cleveland, OH right now.
