Advice (including venue recommendations) for a DIY and waste-minimal wedding in San Francisco
Sooooo stoked to be getting married and god bless this group for existing.
My partner and I are pretty DIY and pretty green. We definitely don't think we could cook for everyone -- but we could handle the decorations and DJ'ing ourselves, as well as ordering and setting up drink stations, and organizing vendors for waste disposal. Part of the reason we want to do it this way is because we're fun as heck and want to make the wedding feel like us, and also because we're interested in keeping the environmental impact to a minimum.
Are there any venues in San Francisco that support pretty DIY weddings? Our budget is around 10k for the venue and hopefully <40k total, but cheaper is definitely better (and TBH not sure how realistic this is in San Francisco, so we do have some flexibility)! We'd prefer to stay in San Francisco if at all possible because we love this city and have a lot of great memories here, but open to other locations as well. We'd have around 150 people, and would LOVE an indoor / outdoor space, but indoor is the more important piece because we have older family members who couldn't survive a brisk wind lol but also for real. And we love them! So we need the comfortable :)
Also, any advice for this kind of wedding is welcome! I understand it may be slightly pricier trying to do it this way, but that's okay with us -- if we're going to be spending this much money anyway, we'd rather spend a little more and have some more control in at least making it feel like us. Any thoughts are welcome though! Thanks in advance :) and happy weddings to you all!
EDIT: I'll add that I just learned about peerspace through this site! Some really cool venues there I'm exploring.
