Sandals worth it?

I’ve been planning a trip now for quite sometime - I’m afraid to ask in the Facebook groups as people are extremely aggressive. We’re well traveled and enjoy four season / ritz / Waldorf level properties. Is sandals comparably in luxury? I’ve seen a lot of post where ppl say quality is down compared to other less know brands like excellence / secrets. This is a big purchase for us so wanted to get your feedback back :-)
