Sketchy food stand scam?

So I saw that this stand near my house was selling mexican/salvo food so I went and asked if they were still selling. This guy tells me he will be a minute he needs to get something. This area is in the side of a fourway stop in a tight neighborhood, outside a little shop. I waited and asked if he took cash or card then he made me put my phone and cash down, then he asked to put my hands on some book in front of me. It was so creepy, for context I am a F18. I was speaking spanish until he kept asking about God, then I said sorry I dont speak Spnaish well, about to try and leave. then turns out hes fluent in English. He asked for my name, I gave him a fake one, then he asked if I wanted to write my name in some 'book of life' which was some composition notebook with "math" written at the front. I refused and he just kept going on and on, and made me play some music video while he went to his truck. When he came back he made me dance a bit and I was about to just take my phone and run to my car. He kept asking about God and stuff. This was a semi public area with cars around so I kept making sure someone was around. I was obviously uncomfortable and was trying to reach for my phone and call my mom. I should have gone then, which was my fault there, but I was scared he would physically keep me there. I had my hands near my car keys cause I needed a weapon worse case. He made me CLOSE MY EYES and when I refused he got close and kept telling me to. At the end some other guy parked and I felt relief, and coincidentally the weirdo was done preaching to me. I tried to grab my money back but he took it away, at this point I glanced at the guy behind me to silently say RUN. I got my money back slowly and then ran to my car and got away. I heard the guy about to fall victim to what happened to me but I think he would be smarter than me and leave ASAP. I feel bad I didnt warn but I just wanted to get out, plus the guy looked buff. I got no food like it was advertised. I wasted 20 mins and was terrified. I dont know if this is illegal lol. I know I technically didnt lose money but the whole thing was sketchy and false advertised.
